RIGHT RESPONSE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

Tom George is a Certified Master Insturctor for Right Response. Tom ensures that all of the Mount Carmel Youth Ranch Staff are properly trained and certified Right Response

What Is The RIGHT RESPONSE?

With the RIGHT RESPONSE Cycle we guide our staff along the path to success. Maybe an incident occurs unavoidably and requires De-escalation or even Physical Safety. The practice of Postvention guides our staff back into the goal of Prevention, allowing our team to address the needs of the person before another incident can occur. This cycle represents a powerful process that works well for the staff and the troubled teen boys at MTC Youth Ranch.

essential toolbox for determining the best course of action in any situation to achieve a safe, lasting and positive result. The RIGHT RESPONSE is proactive, holistic, and immediately effective. These tools will help you successfully manage aggression or behavioral challenges and help you prevent such incidents from occurring in the future!

Guiding Principles

The three guiding principles of this philosophy are:

  • The intervention must meet the needs of our students.
  • We must constantly reflect respect on the student.
  • The safety of everyone at MTCYR is our highest priority.

Focus on Prevention

The philosophy of RIGHT RESPONSE is much like that of a firefighter: a focus on prevention is more effective than "waiting for the fire to happen." This proactive approach promotes better outcomes for all involved. When an escalation does occur, we can work to de-escalate and restabilize the individual more effectively because we are prepared. Just as fires are investigated to determine the cause, our own post-crisis analysis can help avoid future crises.

Put This Philosophy into Action

This philosophy acts as a guide for everything we do.

We follow these Right Response steps.
• Prevention
• De-escalation
• Postvention
• Physical Safety

Critical thinking and teamwork are required elements of the RIGHT RESPONSE approach. Only by understanding a person’s behavior and its purpose can we really help them meet their needs appropriately, safely and permanently. Their needs change constantly so we must diligently change our response. Collaborating with others ensures that we maintain a holistic perspective for our response. The RIGHT RESPONSE is also based in history, policy and established procedures.

All our Mount Carmel Youth Ranch Staff are trained in Right Response and apply these principles in our daily interaction with our Struggling teen students. Right Response ensures that all our students experience a safe, stable and emotionally healthy environment while they are in our care.

EMS SAFETY SERVICES TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION IN CPR, AED & FIRST AID

All MTC Youth Ranch Staff Members are Trained and Certified in EMS Safety's CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training programs. EMS Safety's Training Programs have been reviewed and approved by numerous federal, state, and local agencies and exceed Federal OSHA requirements. We use the most current CPR, AED and First Aid guidelines.. With EMS Safety we are always ready to respond to an emergency situation with proper skills to improve the health and safety of the our students & staff, on the ranch or in school. Our Staff is equied with the critical information, skills training and supplies they need to keep everyone safe.

We believe that emergency and health training should be easy to access, straightforward in its presentation, and practical. Information should be presented in a way that meets each client’s needs in order to overcome the obstacles to learning. The goal of training should be more than compliance, but rather learning, understanding and applying knowledge to each individual’s life in order to improve it and make it safer. The co-worker you train may be the person to reach your side first in an emergency!

At Mount Carmel Youth Ranch we make sure that all of our staff are well trained and ready to handle an emergency situation with the skills needed to ensure our students healthy and safety
